"Run to me...."
In December '85 Lee Towers confirmed that his Gala of the Year concerts could in no way be described as a "one-off success". The number of concerts was rapidly doubled from two to no less than four sold-out evenings.
Although Lee Towers was offered the possibility of booking the then still relatively unknown Whitney Houston as a guest artiste, he chose to follow his heart and his feelings. The appearance of special guest Anita Meijer and their joint rendition of Run to Me would later prove (and indeed still is) a wonderful idea.
The expertise acquired in 1984 contributed to a totally revamped show, together with (amongst others) the famous Metropole orchestra conducted by Jerry van Rooyen.
